Exploring the Dolomites with the Sellaronda Tour: Arkadia, your hotel on the slopes
Thanks to the strategic location of our hotel on the Sellaronda ski slopes, you can reach one of the most famous ski runs in just a few minutes, both in summer and in winter. Right outside Hotel Arkadia, you will find the Boè and Borest cable cars that will take you to the top of the mountain in no time! Discovering Sellaronda is easy!
The splendid Sellaronda Tour, the 4-pass Tour of the Sella Group on skis, is the most famous excursion in the Dolomites: about 26 km of slopes and a total of 40 km including lifts. The Dolomiti ski pass gives you access to all the ski lifts of the complex, allowing you to enjoy the most beautiful descents. For the Sellaronda Tour, it is advisable to plan at least half a day. The slopes officially close at 5:00 p.m. However, it is necessary to check the timetables of the return lifts in detail, so that you can return with peace of mind.
The Sellaronda Tour can be completed clockwise or counter-clockwise, from any of the four locations around the Sella massif: Corvara, Arabba, Selva di Val Gardena and Canazei.
The itinerary is relatively easy and suitable for average skiers. Along the route it is possible to reach some of the most important alpine ski "sanctuaries", such as: the legendary Saslong ski run in Val Gardena, where the renowned downhill competition and the Super-G of the Alpine Ski World Cup are held; the Boè ski run in Corvara; the Porta Vescovo ski run in Arabba; and the Lupo Bianco ski run in Canazei.
A short detour from the Sellaronda, it is also possible to ski on the Gran Risa slope in La Villa in Alta Badia, where one of the most beautiful World Cup giants takes place every year.
The Sellaronda Tour can also be completed in summer, both clockwise and anticlockwise.
The MTB route can last between 5-8 hours and requires a good level of fitness. The Alta Badia Mountain Pass makes it necessary to use the ski lifts along the route, and the Sellaronda bus is also available if desired.
A paradise for cyclists: the 4-pass route is about 55 km long and is particularly popular with cyclists for the beauty of the area and the satisfaction of having completed the famous Dolomite climbs of the Giro d'Italia.
The Sellaronda Tour is also the starting point for many stages of the Gran Fondo Maratona delle Dolomiti, which takes place every year on the first Sunday in July.
Finally, since 2006, there have been non-competitive amateur event, called Sella Ronda Bike Day and Dolomites Bike Day, which involve closing the four passes to car traffic, reserving them for cycling enthusiasts for a day: a real dream!
